PYP Librarian/Digital Literacy Teacher

Job Purpose 
This position with is a dual role for a PYP Librarian and a Digital Literacy Teacher who will be responsible for running the PYP library for PreKG-Grade 4, as well as providing a collaborative computer literacy program that is fully integrated into the school’s curriculum and is central to the learning process. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals , and objectives of OWIS and meets the requirements of the IB PYP program;
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement effective units of inquiry to support interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning;
  • Plan and deliver information literacy lessons and digital literacy lessons to primary classes;
  • Create inquiry-based classrooms that develop critical thinking skills, knowledge, and a range of skills within an environment based on trust and respect;
  • Perform cataloging and classification of print, audio-visual, electronic, and online resources;
  • Maintain inventories, compile statistics and generate reports as required;
  • Provide library services in response to the information needs of library users; and
  • Respond to daily on-site requests for information.
  • Design, prepare & deliver comprehensive teaching programs which are based on Student Technology Skills Standards
  • Align the school computer literacy program and services with the school curriculum which includes collaborating with teachers to integrate, coordinate, and facilitate the use of instructional technology across all curriculum areas.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage electronic learning resources according to established criteria to support the curricular needs of students and staff.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development and progress of students. 
  • Communicating, consulting, and providing feedback to the parents of students during PTM or as and when the requirement/need arises.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree and appropriate qualifications in librarianship or computer science;
  • Experience in managing library services, ideally in the education sector;
  • Experience in working in an international school setting;
  • Experience in working in a PYP school;
  • Experience or familiarity with a Library Management System is preferred;
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and IT skills.
