Regional Assistant Principal - Beijing International Bilingual Academy - China

The Regional Assistant Principal will support the growth and development of our new campus in Tianjin.  He/ she will partner with the Deputy Head of School to provide educational and community leadership to develop the campus’s growth in line with BIBA’s mission and philosophy.  He/ she will collaborate with school leadership in developing strong relationships students, parents, teachers and wider community, developing the capacities of the teaching staff, and supporting curriculum development and implementation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides academic leadership, especially in overseeing the implementation of the school’s curriculum to ensure high standards of achievements in students
  • Builds staff capacity in learning, teaching and assessment, including conducting goal-setting, lesson observations, pre- and post-observation conferencing for providing feedback and advice, writing observation reports, supporting grade level meetings, recommending professional development opportunities, identifying PD needs for staff and mentoring new teachers
  • Leads, supports, and motivates staff in effective implementation of academic and administrative policies of the school
  • Maintaining a safe school environment and supervising daily operation procedures
  • Recruits, selects, coordinates, develops and inspires great teachers
  • Represents the school with community at large, promote a welcoming environment for members of the community including students, teachers, parents and visitors
  • Participates in branding and marketing of the school and activities related to student admission
  • Develops and implements strategies to meet goals
  • Additional duties assigned or determined as needed

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages academic and teaching staff and is responsible for their recruitment, coaching and mentoring, and professional development.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:40AM – 5:30PM.  Additional hours on weekends and holidays may be needed for special camps (summer/ winter camp) and recruitment events.

Additional School Requirements
  • Administrator credential and advanced degree (MEd, PhD) in education
  • Extensive understanding of and experience with bilingual education
  • Demonstrated and track record of strong leadership in creation and motivation of a collaborative working environment with shared vision and objectives
  • Experience in successfully supervising and supporting teachers in the development of school programs and excellence in teaching
  • Experience in assisting with the management of enrolment, staffing, scheduling and budget
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to plan and act strategically, excellent executive abilities
  • Experience and enthusiasm in working in an international setting, awareness and appreciation of cultural differences, relevant consequences and benefits
  • Good understanding of and experience in integration of technology to improve student learning
  • Communication skills in Chinese will be an advantage
