School Psychologist

Reports to: Superintendent                                                                                                   

Job goal: To provide psychological services to district students referred

Performance responsibilities

  • Evaluations of students referred for possible placement in special education program, eligibility of student special education, and/or for alternative strategies with the regular classroom. Consultation with staff members, parents and others as required during the screening, referral, and evaluation of students.
  • Attends MDT meetings and recommends IEPs for all disabled students. Conducts follow-up activities to assure the IEP is being implemented in the program setting.
  • Consults with individual faculty members concerning curriculum content, classroom methodology, and other items pertinent to establishing a climate conducive to maximal learning for each student.
  • Provide limited counseling consultation that may be beyond the scope of the school counselor.
  • Provide professional development to schools regarding correct forms and procedures for special education.
  • Provide consultation to administration on special education procedures.
  • Assist the administration and staff in designing and implementing in-service seminars; workshops, and conferences intended to improve professional insights, attitudes and performance.
  • Assist in school wide assessments as directed.
  • Consultation with Superintendent regarding appropriate use of Psychological Services.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
     

Terms of Employment: Ten months per year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board and the Superintendent.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy of Evaluation by Administrative Personnel.

  • Current Certification as a School Psychologist in the state of Arizona.
  • Positive recommendations from past employer and/or training institute.

  • Ability to perform assessments that lead to the identification of all educational
