Secondary Program Coordinator
Main Responsibilities of SPC:
The SPC provides oversight on the teaching and learning of international programs of the secondary school which includes the responsibility of setting strategic planning for international programs, and the execution of the international curriculum through high-quality teaching and learning to achieve the school goals, vision, and mission. The SPC analyzes data trends, including external test results and internal assessment results, teacher observations, teacher feedback, and parent and student request and survey data to determine areas of improvement in the program. This position also includes leading professional development to support high-quality teaching and learning.
The details of job responsibilities are:
Curriculum and Instructional Improvement:
- Develop a strategic plan for high-quality teaching and learning of the international program that fits with the school context and student needs.
- Lead curriculum review and implementation including horizontal and vertical alignment across secondary programs, new curriculum maps, unit plans, and shared resource drives with a focus on increased academic rigor and inclusion to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
- Lead and evaluate the effectiveness of all educational efforts in the international program by collecting and analyzing data from internal and external assessments, teacher observation, and student surveys to initiate an improvement plan.
- Initiate teaching pedagogy for high-quality teaching and coordinate implementation with teachers to produce high results in the benchmark tests such as NWEA Map and other testing if any.
- Develop and lead a systematic approach to the professional learning community to ensure that teachers adhere to high-quality standards and can make progress on the change initiatives.
- Report about program achievement to the head of curriculum and school director.
- Fill in as subject lead to support teachers in case of any unexpected vacancy until the new hire is appointed.
Program and School Improvement:
- Conduct research and improve the secondary program, international curriculum, and academic standards by school goals, vision, and mission.
- Develop support programs and extra-curricular activities that promote high achievement in student learning including academic and non-academic clubs.
- Source and propose international competitions, and short summer/exchange programs to enrich students' learnings.
- Attend and conduct academic meetings with relevant staff members in support of continuing school improvement.
- Review policies and implement them to support the achievement of yearly goals.
Personnel Management:
- Collaborate with other leadership members to evaluate teaching staff and provide feedback for improvement to staff during the staff evaluation and observation.
- Participate in promoting a work culture that thrives for excellence and values openness, collaboration, respect, trust, non-judgmental, and solution-oriented.
- Participate in the interview of international teachers when requested by the school director.
- Ensure the team under the line management works in compliance with school policies and code of conduct and report in compliance or concern to the staff disciplinary committee promptly for a solution.
- Assist in the onboarding of new teachers to the school
Administrative Management:
- Maintain administrative and academic records in compliance with the Ministry requirements and school requirements.
- Coordinate with teachers to have a good record of student learning progress and grades toward graduation in school drives and management systems.
- Assist with safety inspections and emergency drills.
Student and Community Relations:
- Meet with parents to discuss student academic as well as to solve other concerns if needed
- Conduct workshops and conferences for staff, students, and parents per school request
- Provide weekly content related to international programs, class activities, and academic projects to the Marketing Team for school social media to promote the school program.
- Additional duties as commensurate with the position based on the needs of the school.
