Secondary School Language and Literature Teacher

Horizon Japan International School seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and talented teacher of Secondary Language and Literature Teacher who organizes and implements an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to engage with and evaluate new concepts, develop critical literacy skills and explore the power and precision of language. We seek to cultivate classrooms in which students learn not only to answer questions, but to question answers, and we need teachers who want to work alongside students toward the shared goal of ever-deeper learning.

  • Supporting the mission, vision and philosophy of the HJIS
  • Designing, preparing and delivering a high quality curriculum for grades within the IB MYP & DP framework to suit the individual needs of all students 
  • Nurturing meaningful relationships with students and provide the individual attention they need
  • Inspiring mixed culture and ability classes, by creating challenging yet inclusive and engaging learning opportunities for all students
  • Maintaining constant awareness of the needs of any students to whom English is additional language
  • Collaborating with other teachers and MYP/DP Coordinator to deliver an interdisciplinary curriculum and share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress and provide targets so that all learners can see success and improve incessantly
