Job Summary
A science teacher helps middle and high school learners understand scientific phenomena. They create engaging lessons, explain complex concepts simply, and enrich classroom time by using experiments. Science Teachers encourage students to be curious and to have respect for the natural world. Core responsibilities of a science teacher include planning, developing, and delivering quality instructions to students, resulting in their overall development. Individual teachers develop particular styles of teaching and are encouraged to utilize their style and techniques within the classroom to deepen the level of understanding for the students. The teaching curriculum and instructional information will fall within the school curriculum and meet the Next Generation Science Standards in the U.S.
General Responsibilities
- Plan and teach science courses, including planning and implementing laboratory activities
- Develop and maintain a healthy learning environment
- Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate classroom management plan
- Differentiate instruction for a variety of learning styles and levels
