Senior High Economics Teacher (GCGS)

Performance Responsibilities:

  • To undertake a designated program of teaching economics across all key stages
  • Prepare and consistently deliver high-quality lessons
  • Be a role model for students, inspiring them to be actively interested in economics
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts and examinations
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers
  • Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts

  • Respect, appreciate and understand differences in learning and school culture
  • Participate in a culture of professional learning
  • Be accountable and a positive advocate for all management decisions

Guangdong Country Garden School (GCGS; Chinese name: 广东碧桂园学校), is a private co-ed boarding school in Shunde District, just south of Guangzhou and at the heart of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province. Job Benefits

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (Education preferred/Economics major required)
  • TEFL/TESOL 100+ hours certification minimum (CELTA/DELTA/PGCE/QTS preferred)
  • A good grasp of the methodology of teaching High School Economics curriculum is required with IGCSE, A-level, AP and/-or IB Economics teaching experience preferred
  • Have an understanding and ability to teach pupils of all abilities
  • Previous experience in an international school preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a cleared background check
