SPED Resource Teacher

Responsibilities: Through the use of data and assessments, work to develop and deliver meaningful instruction interventions in collaboration with classroom teachers based upon student need.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Work with students to increase student achievement
  • Organize and work with intervention groups
  • Participate collaboratively in PLC to analyze, problem solve and make instructional decisions based on data
  • Ability to provide staff development on interventions and other related topics
  • Tracking individual student growth
  • Organize assessments and input data
  • Supervise, train, and schedule instructional assistants
  • Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee

 

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Skills required, but not limited to, for this position include:
  • Ability to interpret and apply special education law, policies and procedures and provide information to school staff
  • In-depth understanding of special education teaching methods and techniques
  • Coordinate the implementation of special education programs with the maximum consideration of inclusion and least restrictive environment
  • Assist in difficult situations with students by facilitating meetings and problem resolutions with parents as well as staff
  • Conduct observations in order to aid in the diagnosis as well as the development of programming and instructional strategies
  • Develops and implements training opportunities and in-services for education staff, parents and administrators
  • Extensive knowledge in the primary disability category supporting
  • Well developed understanding of the special education process

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel. 

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration, and the community.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Arizona certification in Cross Categorical OR
  • Arizona certification in Learning Disabilities with experience in working with children with disabilities in the area of Emotional Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild to Moderate Retardation, Other Health Impairments and Autism
  • Demonstrate success with researched based interventions and curriculum modification or adaptation
  • Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate skill with Microsoft office

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Special Education or related field
  • Reading Endorsement  
  • Successful teaching experience at various grade levels
