GESS Finalist

Where did February go? It’s been a whirlwind here at Teach Away, with many global interview sessions taking place and new jobs opening across several different continents. This month, we’re excited to share our nomination for Global Education Supplier of the Year. We’ve also compiled a list of the best resources for finding answers to your questions about teaching abroad. Finally, for those of us in the northern hemisphere who are tired of dreary weather, our country spotlight is the Cayman Islands.

Teach Away shortlisted for Global Education Supplier of the Year

We’re excited to share that Teach Away has been announced as one of 10 finalists for the Global Education Supplier of the Year award at the 2014 Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) Educational Awards.

The GEAs aim to recognize the region’s best suppliers of educational services and products, as well as the most dedicated teachers and top performing institutions. Teach Away has been matching talented teachers with schools in the Gulf region for over ten years.

We’re proud to be recognized for our work in the Gulf, and we could never have received a nomination like this if we didn’t work with such excellent, talented educators. Thank you for being a part of Teach Away!

Teaching overseas is a huge decision, and even figuring out where to start can be overwhelming! Find out where to look for answers to your most pressing questions – and how to ask your own if you still haven’t found your solution.

It’s important to note that if you have applied for a position and have a Placement Coordinator, you should direct your questions to them. Country Spotlight: Cayman Islands

Located in the Caribbean tropics, the Cayman Islands have a relaxed culture, fantastic natural wildlife, and world-class beaches. The country is made up of three islands: Grand Cayman is the largest and contains the majority of the population, while Little Cayman and Cayman Brac make excellent getaways and are famous for their diving.

The nation’s tropical climate means that it has warm, wet summers and dry, sunny winters. The Caymans boast beautiful coral reefs and spectacular wildlife, including stingrays, sea turtles, colorful parrots, and blue iguanas. Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach is one of the most popular spots for travelers, although there are over 150 kilometers of coastline from which to enjoy the crystal Caribbean waters.

Teaching jobs in the Cayman Islands usually last from September-June and can be competitive. Teachers will generally be expected to have at least 2 years of previous experience before applying to teach in the Cayman Islands. While housing is not usually provided as part of a teaching contract, most schools will provide assistance in helping teachers find an apartment before they arrive.

Teach Away currently has teaching jobs in the Cayman Islands for IB Chemistry Teachers. For a full list of teaching jobs abroad, please visit Teach Away’s job board.
