Position Title: Teacher

Reports to: Campus Dean

The duties and responsibilities of teachers are based on the Danielson Framework for Teaching which divides teaching activities into 22 components clustered into 4 domains.

Planning & Preparation:

  • Plan & write daily lesson plans according to the provided curricula and submit them within the stated guidelines.
  • Plan & write unit plans according to the provided curricula and submit them within the stated guidelines in collaboration with assigned Professional Learning Communities.
  • Plan & write formal assessments according to provided curricula and approved unit, lesson & assessment plans in collaboration with Professional Learning Communities & submit them within stated guidelines.
  • Develop rubrics & marking schemes with clearly defined criteria & standards to ensure fair grading practices for all students.
  • Prepare and provide lesson plans & instructional materials for regularly assigned classes in the event of absence.
  • Prepare student School Suspension work by policies set in the student management handbook.

The Classroom Environment:

  • Develop & document grade-level classroom management plans and submit them according to stated guidelines in collaboration with assigned Grade Level Teams.
  • Manage student compliance to grading, academic & behavior policies in the student handbook.
  • Manage Level 1 & 2 student behavior issues by the school-wide behavior management system.
  • Manage student classroom behavior by the Grade Level Team classroom management plan and collaboration with the Grade Level Team and homeroom teacher.
  • Immediately report Level 3 & 4 real-time student and classroom issues in the student information system and to the Department Head.
  • Manage student classroom use of technology by the Grade Level Team classroom management plan and collaboration with the Grade Level Team and homeroom teacher.

Instruction:

  • Instruct classes daily according to provided curricula and approved unit, lesson & assessment plans.
  • Administer regular formative & summative assessments and record results in the gradebook.
  • Administer formal assessments by assigned schedule & stated policies & procedures.
  • Administer regular accuracy & completion of assignments by stated guidelines.
  • Assess student participation fairly and record results by stated guidelines.
  • Deliver specific, meaningful written & verbal feedback to students based on formal and informal assessments (e.g., observations, classwork, homework, tests, etc.).
  • Plan & lead instruction/activities for assigned extracurricular duties.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Record & maintain student academic records (assignment grades) weekly by given guidelines & deadlines.
  • Record student attendance daily to ensure alignment with American high school graduation requirements and by given deadlines.
  • Respond to company/parent/students/partner written communication within 48 hours.
  • Actively participate in Collaborative Planning Processes for assigned Grade Level teams & Professional Learning Communities (Content Area Teams).
  • Analyze classroom formative & assessment data to evaluate instructional effectiveness and guide student improvement.
  • Analyze subject-area common formative & assessment data to evaluate cohort instructional effectiveness & alignment & guide student improvement in collaboration with Professional Learning Communities.
  • Prepare class-based student performance data reports and communicate program performance to academic administrators, prepare cohort-based student performance data reports and communicate program performance to academic administrators.
  • Report attendance at campus daily according to stated guidelines & deadlines.
  • Attend regularly assigned classes daily within the stated timeframe arriving no later than 5 minutes before the lesson begins.
  • Attend assigned extra duty class coverage and assigned extracurricular activities within the stated timeframe.
  • Maintain student attendance records for assigned extracurricular duties.
  • Supervise detention according to the assigned schedule & record student attendance according to student behavior management policies.
  • Observe student academic & behavioral performance and request parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Attend school-wide parent presentations, meetings & 1-1 meetings as scheduled.
  • Write comments & submit grades on student progress reports according to stated guidelines.
  • Make recommendations for student enrollment in AP, Honors & Regular educational tracks.
  • Make recommendations for students by writing letters of recommendation as well as recommendations for award recipients upon request
  • Determine & submit effort grades for students attending credit recovery & grade improvement classes.
  • Participate in 25 hours of approved professional development within the academic year.
  • Attend required company-based & school-based professional development sessions.
  • Attend scheduled Faculty, PLC, and scheduled Grade Level Team meetings
  • Bring necessary materials and resources to all PLC, data, and planning meetings, including curriculum guides and planning templates.
  • Take meeting notes & keep necessary general records of all meetings attended.
  • Check company email, at minimum twice per day, & acknowledge or respond within 48 hours.
  • Meet various deadlines as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
