Chapel Street Primary School
Chapel Street Primary is one of South Africa’s oldest schools. It is an English medium school located in Woodstock, Cape Town. It is home to approximately 600 learners and 16 teachers. It comprises two phases including the Foundation Phase (Gr R-3) and the Intermediate and Senior Phase referred to as the Intersen (Gr 4-7). Each phase has a Head of Department under whose leadership all academic activities are organized. The school follows the national curriculum that it implements with the aim to develop the full potential of each individual learner as a citizen of a democratic South Africa. It creates a learner who is confident and independent, fully literate, numerate and ready for lifelong learning. It also follows an inclusive education policy and therefore able to support learners with learning difficulties. To stay abreast with new developments, teachers attend developmental workshops every Tuesday.
