A Long Service Bonus referred to as End of Employment (EOE) and is part of your Total Remuneration Package. It is calculated fortnightly on your Gross Fortnight Salary and accrues fortnightly. After an employee has completed their first year of contract they may access annually, 15% of Base Salary plus Long Service Bonus as Superannuation to be paid to the individuals Superannuation Fund. This will attract Tax Concessions.

Secure Fully furnished 2 or 3 bedroom (depending on need) accommodation is provided. Includes furniture, all white goods, TV, Cable TV access and Wifi.

The following utilities are paid for: Cooking Gas, Electricity & Water and Domestic help.

Annual Flights - to Home Location for Employee and accompanying dependents are provided.

School Fees for your listed dependent children to attend an IEA school in PNG will be provided in accordance to the Terms and Conditions in force at the time.

The medical cover employees and accompanying dependents is primarily for cover in PNG Only. It is on a reimbursement basis and employees can claim 80% of cost. 20% of cost is borne by the employee.

We are currently seeking HOD English and Languages to join the Senior Leadership Team at school that provides local and international curriculum, including the IB Diploma, IGCSE and the Australian Capital Territory Year 12 to over 900 students from 15 countries in grades 7 to 12 in the nation’s capital. 

We have a well-equipped and resourced school in a beautifully landscaped tropical setting.

  1. HOD English & Languages
  • HOD EAL currently teaches the senior English groups in grade 11 & 12. This group is small in number (<20 usually). They all follow the ACT Literature (Australian Curriculum) course which has been written around the IB English A1 Literature course. Some of these stds will be doing a dual qualification with the IB Diploma. The HOD will also teach IGCSE English.
  • The EAL Department at POMIS consists of 9 other English teachers and one French teacher. In grade 7 & 8 all students follow the Cambridge 1 Lower Secondary Syllabus and students also do the PNG Certificate of Basic Education examination. In grade 9 to 12 all Papua New Guinean students do the PNG Lower (Grade 10) and Upper (grade 12) Secondary School certificate examinations. Overseas students and Papua New Guineans paying an extra fee will do IGCSE English in grade 9 & 10 and the Australian Capital Territory English course in grade 11 & 12 with some of them also doing the IB in 11& 12 as well.
