Role Overview: Classroom Teacher

As a Classroom Teacher at GISU, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of our students academically, socially, and emotionally. You will create a positive and safe learning environment, guide students daily, and help build a respectful and disciplined classroom culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Student Support: Monitor student progress, behavior, and wellbeing; provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Communication: Work closely with parents, colleagues, and school leaders to share information and support student success.
  • Student Leadership: Organize student elections and encourage leadership opportunities.
  • Events & Activities: Plan and supervise class events like trips, competitions, and celebrations.
  • Attendance: Track student attendance and follow up on absences or lateness.
  • Reporting: Prepare and share student progress reports and participate in parent-teacher meetings.
  • School Standards: Uphold school policies on punctuality, uniform, and behavior.

Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) provides international education to students between 2 and 19 years of age. From Early Years to Year, 13 students are taught using student-centred methods. Emphasis is on the development of the whole person. Students in Years 10 and 11 are prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations and those in Years 12 and 13 are prepared for Cambridge AS/A Level examinations.

These examinations administered by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) are recognized worldwide.
