Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their potential.
- Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- Share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor personal and academic growth opportunities.
- Organize PE/sports workshops for staff and parents when appropriate.
- Be a role model for students, inspiring them to be actively interested in PE.
- Maintain appropriate records and provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for the school assessment system.
- Complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students.
- Set expectations for staff and students about standards of achievement and the quality of learning & teaching.
- Prioritize and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role.
- Follow the school policies and procedures.
- Ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support where appropriate.
- Maintain discipline by the school procedures, and encourage good practice about punctuality, behavior, standards of work, and homework.
- Work with colleagues to develop activities that link with the units of inquiry where possible.
- Promote aspects of personal development related to PE
- Update professional knowledge and expertise as appropriate to keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology, in general, and in the curriculum area of PE.
- Promote PE learning through out-of-hours’ activities.
- Ensure a high-quality learning environment within the PE area assessment, feedback, and tracking: To lead, monitor, and evaluate the assessment and feedback to students in line with the whole school and department policy
- Follow department monitoring and tracking systems relating to student’s attainment, progress, and achievement: mark, grade, and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
- Assess students as requested by external examination bodies, curriculum areas, and school procedures.
- Assess, record, and report on the attendance, progress, development, and attainment of students and keep such records as are required.
- Complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students
- Alert the appropriate staff to problems experienced by students.
- Communicate as appropriate, with the parents of students and with persons or bodies outside the school concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with the appropriate staff.
- Where appropriate, to communicate and cooperate with persons or bodies outside the school.
- Follow agreed policies for communications in the school.
- Take part in activities such as Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Sports Day, etc.
- Book sports facilities (like swimming pools, fields, tennis courts) and administer as required.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
- Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
