MANHATTAN UNIVERSITY NON-CREDIT PROGRAMS

POSITION TITLE: Summer ESL Instructor (In Person)

Reports to: ESL Coordinator

Remuneration:
Bachelor's degree + 1 year teaching experience - $23/hour
Bachelor + 2-3 years teaching experience - $24/hour
Bachelor + 4 or more years teaching experience / Master's / PhD - $25/hour

We do not sponsor work visas for this position. The candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Housing may be provided on campus per request.

Position Summary:

Seeking ESL part-time instructor candidates for Summer 2025 at the Manhattan University campus in Riverdale, Bronx, New York. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of Manhattan University. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Dates: July 16, 2025 - July 25, 2025

During their sessions, instructors will teach ESL classes for teenagers from 8:30 AM - 12:45 PM on weekdays.

Under the general direction of the ESL Coordinator, instructors will provide ESL classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate the attainment of student learning objectives.

Instructors must be available for a training session before their first day of teaching. Dates and times of training sessions are to be determined and will be disseminated to successful candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide academic instruction to students through communicative English language courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and other instructional settings;
Plan and organize instruction utilizing the proprietary online instructional materials and curricula;
Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment and attendance;
Upon hire, take part in the Program training.
Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:

Completed degree.
One year of teaching experience.

Physical Requirements:

As related to teaching.
As required to move from one part of the campus to another.
Special Requirements: Experience with online instructional platforms is desired.
Interviews for this position will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
