Language Requirement: English at level C1/C2 or an equivalent IELTS band score or a native speaker of English. Hungarian language knowledge is not required.

Minimum professional requirements are an undergraduate degree, 10 years of full-time relevant teaching experience, and completion of a DELTA or equivalent ELT training.

The successful candidate will, as above, have significant experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, preferably to the relevant age group, whether in primary education or language schools. Experience teaching abroad is not required, but familiarity with cultural adjustment is a plus.

The position is full-time and is available on a long-term basis at a competitive salary with the opportunity for professional development and training, both in-house and externally.

The compensation package is paid in Hungarian Forints (HUF) and will be approximately 1,400 USD post-tax inclusive of single-company housing and unlimited public transport. Additional benefits include the company’s private health insurance scheme accompanied by full access to the Hungarian National Health System. Immigration assistance is also provided, as well as a settling-in allowance for those arriving from abroad.

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Teacher Trainers to work with native English-speaking teachers as part of a private language education program embedded in Hungarian primary and high schools, both public and private, with a special emphasis on public primary school-aged children in Grades 1-8.

Our program specializes in two key areas which overlap methodologically. On the one hand, we specialize in TEFL when teaching English and in this instance emphasize communication-centered language teaching and the concept of the active classroom. The ideas inherent in this approach are also relevant in co-taught subject lessons where we practice bilingual education in partnership with Hungarian teaching staff at our partner schools. Our key conceptual tool in this instance is CLIL.

The position is full-time and is available on a long-term basis at a competitive salary with the opportunity for professional development and training, both in-house and externally.

The Teacher Trainer position involves helping and supervising teachers in a range of contexts, including:

  • running workshops
  • conducting planning sessions, observations, and feedback sessions
  • Provide coaching to EFL teachers who are at a wide range of levels of training and experience in the broader field
  • assisting line managers in the running of specific school locations, including the annual appraisal process and development of project work for teaching staff
  • working with other teacher trainers and in conjunction with senior teachers and managers to develop teaching resources and/or additional training material

The position requires dedication to teachers and students alike, flexibility, self-reflection capacity, and highly developed skills in representation and communication.

What is the Bilingual Program?

We are a private, non-profit, tuition-based educational enterprise operating in Hungarian state and private educational institutions. As such, we are a public-private partnership that has been providing unique educational opportunities to thousands of families in Hungary since 2001.

We operate our nationally accredited program in five primary schools, one high school and three kindergartens in Budapest and its environs. Our primary school program encompasses 1st through 8th grade and involves nearly every subject in the curriculum, making it possible for teachers of diverse backgrounds to draw on their training and experience and deliver quality teaching to students aged 6 to 14. Our high school program, which begins in Grade 5, mirrors our primary school program in method and content. In our kindergarten program, children aged 3 to 6 are immersed in a bilingual environment using the 'one person, one language model'. Within this context, we provide high-quality early childhood education in English through play and everyday situations as well as set activities, resulting in successful language acquisition from a very young age.

We offer an innovative approach to teaching, including the interactive and communicative approach favored in EFL environments as well as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in our subject lessons at all grade levels and in the kindergarten. As such, we co-teach: teachers hold lessons jointly and alternate in the leading role, switching languages throughout the course of the lesson. Students thus study simultaneously in both English and Hungarian. We are also innovating in terms of technology in teaching, integrating various online learning platforms into our program and making extensive use of tablets in our primary and high school classrooms.

We provide professional development training opportunities at multiple points throughout each school year, starting with in-depth orientation and training in August prior to the start of school. We work with top teacher trainers, from within Hungary, the UK and further afield. We also offer administrative support including: a school-based manager, teacher trainer and a coordinator; central office staff; an HR team charged with handling housing-related matters, immigration procedures as well as medical visits and work-related papers and procedures; a mentor teacher; and documentation on everything from culture shock to medical care in Hungary.
