Hobby School is looking for a candidate to fill in the position of English conversation teacher in preschool (five-year-olds) to be taught by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Milepost 1.
The preschool school teacher position is a challenging, yet very rewarding task as the teacher will have to work with kids who don't speak English /preschool/. Because of the nature of the IPC program followed by Hobby School, the teacher will work closely with his/her colleagues (international and local alike), and good teamwork skills and creativity are therefore of paramount importance.
The first private school in the country - Hobby School was founded in 1994, to educate the next generation of Mongolian intelligentsia, against a backdrop of tough economic conditions, a rapidly growing urban population, and a crumbling public education system.
The school's name, despite lending an aura of leisure, is deeply meaningful. The inspiration for the school followed Eurasian Hobby (Falco Subbuteo). Falcons are revered by Mongolians as symbols of courage and vigor.
In the academic year 2023-2024, the school has about 1200 students, in grades 1 to 12 (ages 6 to 17, about).
Today, the school is widely recognized as one of the best secondary education institutions in the country. In line with the founder Dr.Oyuntsetseg's vision of nurturing the next generation of Mongolian intelligentsia, Hobby School keeps its tuition fees at levels far below its peer schools to ensure accessibility for families from different socio-economic backgrounds.
In addition to following the State-approved General Secondary Education Curriculum of Mongolia, the school implements an immersion-based program of English instruction. Hobby School was the first school in Mongolia to introduce IPC (The International Primary Curriculum) and IMYC (The International Middle Years Curriculum). The school was also the first in the country to adopt AP courses into its curriculum. The school is planning to introduce the Cambridge Curriculum. The bilingual nature of the curriculum results in added workload on our students.
