In 2015, Shenzhen was the first BASIS International School to open its doors in China. Opening with 400 students in grades Pre-K - 10th, it has grown to more than 1,000 students in grades Pre-K to 12th, and has numerous wait lists. This success was recognized as the largest first-year opening of an international school in the history of southern China. The school offers top-notch facilities in its classrooms, as well as a soccer field and track, gymnasium, a large library, Apple computer lab, several art and music studios, a theater, cafeteria, and outdoor play space.

BASIS International School Shenzhen has enjoyed numerous academic and athletics successes in its first three years. More than two dozen students qualified for the World Scholars' Cup Global Round in the past two years, and several teams have advanced to its Yale University rounds. The Advanced Placement pass rate surpasses the U.S. national average in more than 10 subject areas. Our swim team has won more than 120 gold and silver medals. And in 2018 we celebrated our first graduate, who is now attending Cornell University's College of Engineering. We are expecting 19 graduates in 2019 and this number will continue to grow.

Located in the expat-friendly suburb of Shekou, there are numerous Western restaurants, grocery stores, IMAX movie theaters with current releases in English, and several shopping opportunities close to the school. Additionally, the area has easy access by car or ferry to Hong Kong and other China cities, such as Macao, Zuhai, and Guangzhou.
