We are looking for a candidate with a lot of experience in Primary education, with solid stints in the schools they have worked and with an obvious career progression. Previous experience as a Head is highly desirable but someone with Senior Management experience in a large Primary School would also be considered.

A fully qualified teacher, with either: First degree in a relevant subject area, plus a postgraduate qualification in teaching; OR an Education degree.

- A minimum of six years of teaching experience;

- The school will meet the cost of personal medical and dental care at the school’s designated hospital in Abuja for self only.
- The School shall pay for the membership and joining fees for the Headmaster for one of the following clubs:
- The Hiltonia Club or
- Blu Cabana within Abuja.
- The School agrees that the full liability of the host-country income taxes, other personal taxes, or social security premiums as mandated by law, shall be covered by the School.
- Upon completion of the term of this contract, The Headmaster shall be entitled to 1 month’s salary (based on the first term's salary) for each full year of service covered by this contract. This benefit will not be paid if this contract is not completed. This benefit is payable in August at the end of the contract.

Headmaster The Regent Primary School Job Description
The Headmaster is a key leadership and management post within The Regent Primary School (TRPS) and The Regent Family of Schools. The Headmaster is expected to work closely with the Primary Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to lead the Primary School towards the vision, strategic goals, and objectives of the whole school and those specific to the Section. As the title “Headmaster” implies, the role will invariably involve leading all aspects of the Primary School as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
The Headmaster is responsible for all areas of Curriculum management, developing the Teaching and Learning, and providing quality assurance and consistency across departments and year groups. The Headmaster is tasked with developing a consistent approach to assessment, reporting, and tracking academic progress to ensure the highest standards. The Headmaster will oversee timetabling, staffing and data analysis, with direct line management responsibilities for the SLT. The Headmaster will advise and analyze the CPD requirements of staff, primarily through appraisal and arrange the appropriate training in liaison with the SLT.
The Headmaster will collaborate and contribute to strategic, developmental, and tactical planning across the whole Primary School and the Regent Family of Schools. The Headmaster will take a leading role in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to address identified goals and objectives.
The Headmaster will provide inspirational leadership in the Primary School, with a keen attention to detail, a ‘starter-finisher’ in all tasks and a proven track record of change management in leadership roles. The Headmaster will be sensitive to staff issues, with solid interpersonal skills, an ability to build successful teams, and be an excellent communicator. The Headmaster will be an accomplished public speaker with visible presentation skills and an desire to be involved with all members of the school community. The role involves the organization and resource management of all academic materials in the Primary School.
The Headmaster will is also responsible, with the Heads of Section, for overseeing and implementing the pastoral system to provide a safe and secure environment in which children can thrive. Safeguarding is paramount to all staff at TRPS and the Headmaster will understand and oversee regulations and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding, including the appointment of a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
The Headmaster will ensure effective and appropriate communication with parents in a timely fashion, keeping parents informed about what is happening in the school, contributing to the weekly newsletter, and attending and leading relevant parent meetings. The Headmaster will also take a prominent role in the Admissions Process.

Strategic Direction:
The Headmaster should articulate and put into practice the vision for the Academic and Pastoral Programme in line with The Regent’s Vision, Mission, and objectives, in close collaboration with relevant colleagues.
The Headmaster should:
- Work collaboratively with the SLT to formulate a strategic vision for the academic and pastoral programs, and to produce development plans (1 to 3 years) and tactical plans (current year);
- Work collaboratively with the SLT to develop policies, procedures, and systems for the day-to-day management of any aspect of school life;
- Lead and line-manage relevant colleagues in their contributions towards The Regent’s strategic planning process.
- Ensure that strategic decisions are effectively implemented by relevant colleagues;
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the school’s procedures and systems;
- Contribute effectively to formal review processes, such as COBIS and BOS and help ensure that all recommendations are subsequently implemented effectively;
- Attend Board Meetings or other strategic meeting groups when required.
Staff:
The Headmaster is accountable for ensuring that all staff fully understand and implement agreed academic, curricula, and Teaching and Learning policies and procedures through specific training, instruction, and monitoring. The Headmaster is also responsible for arranging the recruitment of suitably qualified staff
The Headmaster should:
- Work effectively and collaboratively with the Heads of the Section and other SLT members
- Work with SLT and Coordinators to ensure their understanding and support of agreed policies and procedures;
- Lead INSET sessions as required, to ensure that all staff fully understand procedures and systems;
- Ensure that the reporting process runs smoothly, in liaison with the Heads of Section and the ICT Systems Manager;
- Oversee that cover is arranged for absent staff and appropriate absence records kept;
- Play a lead role in the appraisal process for staff in the Primary;
- Oversee the production of the annual master timetable;
- Monitor staff to ensure that systems are being correctly followed, and evaluate the effectiveness of the systems in place.
Teaching and Learning:
The Headmaster is responsible and accountable for ensuring that systems for implementing academic, curricula, and pastoral processes help to enhance learning outcomes.
The Headmaster is responsible for the following areas and should:
- Ensure effective assessment practices are in place and fully aligned with Regent School guidelines;
- Ensure formative assessment practices are effective, and facilitate student inclusion, motivation, progression, and differentiation;
- Monitor academic tracking, target setting, reporting, and record-keeping processes, ensuring these are accurate, effective, and appropriate;
- Oversee the PTC Primary Days ensuring quality feedback and discussion between parents and teachers;
- Academic Leadership, Management and Administration: Oversee the production of the annual timetable;
Staff Development:
- Facilitate the appropriate training of all colleagues in using relevant systems and software;
- Facilitate ongoing monitoring, mentoring, and coaching as required, and individual professional development needs are appropriately met;
- Ensure new staff are appropriately inducted to academic, curricula, and pastoral policies and procedures;
- Lead with the appraisal process for senior staff.
Curriculum Development and Management:
- Collaborate with various consultative and leadership groups regarding curriculum development and initiatives;
- Analyse the curriculum plans and identify areas for further development and improvement;
Pastoral:
- Work with Heads of Section to ensure the effectiveness of pastoral systems within their sections;
- Oversee the program of assemblies and special events as required, including parents’ meetings.
Co-Curricular:
To oversee the Co-Curricular programme ensuring that there is a broad and diverse range of activities on offer
Resource Management:
- Manage the budget effectively, making sure that overseas orders are made in a timely fashion and keeping the Primary School budgets within limits.
- Ensure the Primary School is well-resourced through liaison with Heads of Section and Administration;
- Liaise with the ICT Manager regarding the annual renewal of software.
- Liaise with the Digital Learning Coordinator to ensure the effective functioning of the ICT network, and provision of wi-fi and ICT resources across the Primary School.
Safeguarding:
The Headmaster should ensure that our systems help to safeguard students and staff.
The Headmaster should:
- Ensure that all staff know how to use pastoral systems to investigate pastoral patterns;
- Alert the DSL to any specific concerns about student welfare that may become apparent through pastoral processes;
- Ensure staff is aware of e-safety protocols and procedures.
Other Duties:
- These include regular communication with parents through meetings, the newsletter and by email.
- The Headmaster will play a prominent role in the Admissions Process.
- The post-holder is responsible for any other duties which the Proprietress may reasonably expect to be carried out.
