Role Overview
The Director of Learning is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing excellence in teaching, learning, and student development across ILG School. As an IB Continuum School (PYP, MYP, DP), ILG is committed to fostering a holistic educational environment that promotes inquiry, academic rigor, inclusion, and student well-being.
The Director of Learning will lead pedagogical strategy, professional growth, and curriculum alignment, while ensuring the school maintains high standards in instructional practices and student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Pedagogical Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership in curriculum design, instructional practice, and assessment across the PYP, MYP, and DP.
- Ensure teaching methodologies promote inquiry, collaboration, and critical thinking in line with IB philosophy and Cognia standards.
- Partner with the Heads of Programmes (IB Coordinators) to maintain alignment of standards, scope, and sequences across grade levels.
- Drive innovation in teaching strategies, including technology-supported and differentiated instruction.
Student Learning & Development
- Oversee the design and implementation of programs that support students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Establish and monitor learning and behavior frameworks that emphasize respect, inclusivity, and responsibility.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Champion initiatives that foster a positive learning climate and embody IB Learner Profile attributes.
Faculty Growth & Professional Development
- Design and deliver professional development for staff, including pedagogy, assessment, and student well-being.
- Mentor and coach faculty, supporting reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Lead training in restorative practices, mental health awareness, and emotional intelligence in education.
- Ensure all staff are aligned with the ILG, Cognia, and IB missions, standards, and values.
Data-Informed Leadership
- Use student achievement data, behavioral reports, and well-being indicators to guide instructional decisions.
- Monitor program effectiveness, addressing challenges and celebrating successes in both pedagogy and student development.
- Adapt programs to the evolving needs of the school community.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage parents as partners in learning through workshops, clear communication, and active involvement.
- Promote understanding of the IB Learner Profile and its role in both academic and behavioral development.
- Strengthen collaborative relationships across the school community.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Extensive teaching and leadership experience, ideally within IB schools.
- Strong knowledge of IB pedagogy and assessment across PYP, MYP, and DP.
- Experience with student development and inclusion in diverse, international contexts.
- Proven ability to mentor teachers and lead professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
