Qualifications:

  • Fluent English speaker
  • Experience working in multicultural and multilingual settings is desirable

  • Minimum 100 hours of TEFL certification or relevant teaching credentials/license
  • £960 P/M salary
  • Salary paid through the UK PAYE system (for UK citizens only)

Job Description:

The British School of Madagascar, established in 2014, is a rapidly growing English curriculum school in the heart of the bustling capital, Antananarivo. 

We seek a dedicated, enthusiastic teacher to deliver Early Years curricula creatively and engagingly. 

 

Working Hours: 

Monday-Thursday 7:45-15:15 (1 early duty from 7:30 and 1 late duty until 16:30 per week)

Friday 7:45-12:30 (3 late duties per half-term until 15:00 for after-school club supervision)

Maximum of 20 hours of face-to-face teaching time per week

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities : 

  • To deliver a curriculum based on Maths, English, and The World Around Us (lesson plans provided)
  • To maintain communication with the parents through a variety of mediums, including Class Dojo
  • To assess, record, and report on the development of the students in the class, in conjunction with our academic administrators and the SLT
  • To work as a part of the lower school team and carry out essential administrative duties as required by the SLT
  • To maintain a stimulating and positive learning environment
  • To set expectations for students using clear and constructive feedback
  • To deploy teaching assistants effectively to support the learning process

 

Wider School Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in appropriate meetings with parents and colleagues 
  • Promote proper safeguarding practices and care for the health and safety of students
  • Contribute to the development of policy and the growth of the school
  • To host 1, 45-minute after-school club per week
  • To carry out a share of supervisory duties as per published rotas
