Day-Star School is a K-12 bilingual school in Juticalpa, Honduras, Central America. Founded in 1988, we have provided quality bilingual education to the region for over 30 years. 

We have an immediate opening for a Fourth Grade Homeroom Teacher for the current 2023-2024 school year. Day-Star School offers a great opportunity to teach abroad and experience a different culture.

A typical workday for a teacher begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM. The daily workload is comprised of six 40-minute classes. There are also two periods for planning, a breakfast break and a lunch break. The subjects taught are:

  • English
  • Math
  • Phonics
  • Reading
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • VHS (Vocabulary, Handwriting and Spelling)

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lesson plans
  • Evaluate student progress
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom
  • Fill out necessary grading forms
  • Communicate with parents about students’ progress

Day-Star School is a private K-12 bilingual school located in Juticalpa, in the eastern part of Honduras. The school was founded in 1988. It is owned and operated by Mark and Betty Skallman, North Americans, who have lived and worked in Honduras since 1980. 

The school is nationally accredited with the Honduran Ministry of Education and internationally accredited by Cognia.  All classes, except for Spanish grammar, civics, and some social studies, are taught in English. The teaching staff includes both International and Honduran teachers. The student body is Honduran, whose parents live and work in the community.
