The successful candidate will:

  • Create an engaging and stimulating atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Have a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Effectively plan and deliver quality lessons using the school’s planning software.
  • Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor and support student learning.
  • Be flexible and willing to adapt to the evolving needs of the programs.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree with a PGCE/PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in teaching.
  • Free medical care as part of national health service.
  • Administrative assistance with visa/work permits (provided that candidate satisfies the minimum requirements to obtain a working visa in Italy)

We are looking for an inspiring English teacher to join our IB Diploma Programme. The successful candidate will be a fluent English speaker required to deliver the IBDP English B curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity for a young, experienced teacher on a career path toward pedagogical leadership or an experienced educator seeking a better work-life balance and wishing to apply their knowledge, skills, and competencies in a new context.

About the School:

Smiling International School is a bilingual k-12 international school set in the heart of the Renaissance city of Ferrara, Italy. It was established in 1997 to provide an international education for the local and international community. Smiling International School has two sites in the center of Ferrara.

As a “scuola criterion”, our educational offer is based on the Italian national curriculum, delivered in English using contemporary approaches to teaching and learning to develop internationally-minded students. In May 2022, we became an International Baccalaureate World School, authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). In December 2023 we obtained the candidacy to deliver the IBMYP

The city of Ferrara, nicknamed “Città della Bicicletta” (The City of Bicycles), is a beautiful renaissance city, designated by Unesco as a World Heritage Site. It is home to the University of Ferrara and has a lively social scene with a rich calendar of arts and cultural events throughout the year. The atmosphere in the city is very relaxed, and the Ferraresi are very proud of their cultural traditions, cuisine, and local wines. The nearest beach is less than 1 hour’s drive away, all the major cities are easily reached by high-speed train and flights to most major European cities are accessible from nearby Bologna airport.
