ISR International School on the Rhine is a private, coeducational school catering for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school operates a non-selective admissions policy and has an enrolment of around 1040 students with more than 60 nationalities represented in the student body.
ISR is accredited by the German authorities as an ‘Anerkannte Internationale Ergänzungsschule’ (International Supplementary School) and by the US accrediting agency Cognia (formerly known as AdvancED). ISR is an IB World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme and offers Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) IGCSE courses. The school is a certified member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
We are looking for a full-time Librarian to join our team in August 2024.
Teaching and Learning:
- Plans and teaches fixed and flexible classes for primary and middle school students.
- Ensures the library is a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students.
- Provides a reference service to the ISR community.
- Shows students how to access and evaluate information in a variety of formats.
- Assists users with the understanding and observance of copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property.
Library Management:
- Assists in the circulation of library materials.
- Oversees the future planning of the library, including an annual library budget.
- Establishes collection development procedures
- Maintains regular and timely communication with the stakeholders.
- Assists with collection and resource development and management of information resources in a variety of formats.
- Maintains and updates records on the Library Management System, Follett Destiny.
- Coaches the Library Assistant on current library trends and technology.
- Participates in accreditation programs ensuring that the library resources meet the demands of the accreditation teams.
Reading and Literature:
- Promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading, viewing, and listening.
- Uses selection tools and reviews journals to keep up to date with the latest releases.
- Organises and executes online reading tools used by the ISR community.
- Facilitates Book Fairs, Reading Challenges, Book Week, and other literature-based activities.
- A formal Librarian qualification or equivalent qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- Experience working in an international school is desired.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
