The teacher is responsible for providing a caring educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person is accountable for organizing and implementing an instructional program that abides by the school philosophy and mission.
1. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conductive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school.
2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
3. Develops, keeps and submits appropriate written lesson plans.
4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting established program objectives.
5. Maintains effective discipline within the classroom.
6. Accepts responsibility for encouraging appropriate student behavior to ensure a positive and safe learning environment.
7. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by established school policy and procedures.
8. Develops curriculum and programs through participation in:
a) Planning –designing programs developing objectives and scope and sequences.
b) Evaluating curriculum effectiveness.
c) Selecting materials.
d) In-service and/or workshops.
9. Perform in compliance with the Standards of Effective Faculty at ATS.
10. Maintains a positive working relationship with colleagues.
11. Attends staff and committee meetings.
12. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
13. Works toward positive public relations in daily interaction through a sense of awareness of the community, maintaining open lines of communications between home and school. Support parent/teacher organizations.
14. Supports extracurricular activities and attend school-related events.
15. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities before and after school as well as during lunch and recess.
1. An undergraduate degree in education or SACS alternate requirements.
2. Computer literacy.
3. A commitment to growing professionally.
4. Preferably bilingual in Spanish and English.
