Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or higher with 8 years experience in the field of education which includes 5 years of teaching experience AND either 2 years as a Vice Principal or 3 years as a Senior Leader
  • Teaching license from home country/province
  • Must have completed a supervised practicum while earning Education Qualification
  • Strong knowledge and experience in student-centered learning, standards-based grading, and reporting principles, developing critical thinking skills in students, inquiry-based learning, and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about teaching and committed to providing high-quality education to students.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with English Language Learners is preferable.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the school community, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Ensure the school's compliance with all regulatory requirements set forth by Alberta Education and the UAE Ministry of Education, including but not limited to curriculum implementation, assessment, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan and school development plan for the school that aligns with the MCIS core purpose and reflects the school's mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning practices that engage and challenge students, and promote the development of 21st-century skills.
  • Foster a positive school climate that promotes inclusivity, respect, and diversity, and supports the social and emotional well-being of all staff and students.
  • Work closely with parents, stakeholders, and other partners to develop effective communication and collaboration strategies that support student learning and achievement.
  • Manage the school's budget and resources effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated in a way that supports the school's strategic goals and priorities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among staff, supporting and encouraging ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure that all lessons are planned and delivered to align with the Alberta Education curriculum for Sciences, using student-centered teaching practices that support the development of critical thinking skills.
  • Ensure that standards-based grading and reporting principles are effectively implemented to provide accurate and meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Support teachers in utilizing inquiry-based learning and problem-solving strategies to engage students and enhance their understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Lead the School Improvement Team to ensure success in all external inspections and evaluations including Irtiqaa.
  • Provide professional development opportunities to support staff in staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in teaching.
