Tefl goes mobile press release

The University of Toronto and global teacher recruitment agency Teach Away Inc., announced today the launch of TEFL Online, the first certificate for “Teaching English as a Foreign Language” that can be completed from a mobile device.

TEFL Online breaks ground as the only completely online certificate program of its kind that can be accessed entirely from a mobile device. TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification programs train graduates to deliver instruction to English Language Learners.

“Such an innovative TEFL certification program is a worldwide first,” said Teach Away Director David Frey. “One of our goals going into this project was to evolve the online TEFL concept. The finished product has really surpassed all of our expectations.”

As one of the world’s top 20 universities, the University of Toronto is in a unique position to provide high quality TEFL training through TEFL Online.

“Working with such an esteemed institution as the University of Toronto makes our job of pairing teachers with leading international institutions a lot easier,” says Frey. “The best teachers are the ones with the best training, and now that training is available to everyone.”

With an increasing number of teachers and new graduates looking for employment abroad, the demand for quality TEFL training has increased.

“Education is evolving. Students are ready to learn anywhere, anytime,” says Barbara Bodkin, director of Continuing Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto. “As students prepare to go abroad, they want options that work with their learning lifestyle.”

See the TEFL Online website for more information, including the program’s curriculum and enrollment.
