We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Early Years class teacher to join our dedicated team on our Kindergarten site from August 2019.
Candidates must be a native-level English speaker and will be required to teach children between the ages of 2-6. Candidates will be required to register as an overseas teacher working in China and will need to meet the qualification requirements of a B.A / B.Ed in Early Years Education, a PGCE/PGDE or educational qualifications at a similar or higher level.
The safety and well-being of our students is of paramount importance and candidates must have appropriate criminal records clearance and be willing to undergo child protection screenings, equivalent to UK disclosure practices.
Experience working with children who are learning English as a second language will be a significant advantage as the majority of children in our school are EAL learners. Teachers are also supported by a bilingual teaching assistant as well as a Chinese helper. The Kindergarten follows the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and is an IB school, therefore experience working with the PYP will also be an advantage. The Kindergarten values staff who are flexible and willing to support an inquiry-based, collaborative curriculum.
Successful applicants will be employed on a 2-year contract, which is renewable by mutual agreement.
Please include the following to your Teach Away profile:
- A letter of application
- CV
- 2 professional referees, including your current Headteacher/Principal or supervisor if applicable (Please note the school will only contact referees upon your successful application and will notify you in advance)
Interviews will take place via Skype or Facetime. Please note only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
Garden International School Kindergarten is a well established International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
Our curriculum is inquiry based, so that the children learn as they play, with high academic expectations. We take a holistic approach that means we help the children to develop physically, mentally, academically and socially. The children leave us able to be independent, creative, risk-takers, speaking Chinese and English. Our staff, that come from all over the world, including
different parts of China, are highly qualified and love children. They work hard to ensure a happy, safe yet challenging environment for your child. They share their cultures and knowledge of the world whilst developing the children’s appreciation of their own Chinese culture. With our caring staff and our strong partnership with parents we hope to build on our many successes and continue to be the school where “Every Child Shines”.
The Garden International School Primary was opened in 2016 and was founded to provide a unique educational experience for students aged 6-12 years. The school takes the best from Chinese and international educational practices and implements these side-by-side to create an academic, rigorous, yet caring, child-centred curriculum.
The Garden International School closely follows the Primary Years Programme (PYP) established by the International Bacculaureate and is now an IB candidate school.
