Health Insurance: As the school can't register you for medical health care until the work permit comes through, foreign teachers must obtain medical insurance with coverage for Mexico. You must get an international extension of your health insurance for, at least, three months. You should get the extension directly with your provider before coming to Mexico. The school will cover up to the equivalent of USD 700 (refundable in Mexican pesos).

Once you get your work permit card, you will be able to use National Social Security (IMSS), which covers visits to the doctor, medicines, surgery, and sickness leave (IMSS covers 60% of your salary while being sick for 4 continuous days or more, paying after the 3rd day).  The school does not cover the rest of your salary.  You are responsible for getting registered at the clinic and handling the paperwork.

Absences: Due to minor illness (not subject to incapacity), personal paperwork, family problems, or similar, will be discounted from the Personal Days as long as they do not exceed two consecutive days. Absences of a longer duration will have a different treatment. At the end of the school year, the remaining unused Personal Days will be paid. If before the end of the school year you consume all your Days, the following absences will be discounted. Note that if you register more than three delays in a month, you'll lose one paid Personal Day.

Christmas bonus: Once you have worked at the school for a full year, the school will pay you a bonus of 15 days of salary. If you have not completed the year, the school will pay you the proportional according to your official date of entry. This bonus will be paid before December 20th, as indicated in the Mexican Federal Labor Law.

Mac computer/ iPad:  To develop your teaching duties, the school will lend you an Apple device. You will be asked to sign a promissory note. You will have to return your device to IT Department before the Christmas holidays, Easter holidays, and at the end of the school year. Preschool teachers will receive an iPad, and Elementary and High School teachers will receive a Mac computer.

Paid Vacations: Staff is entitled to paid holidays; two weeks in December and two weeks in Easter. You will also be paid for federal holidays and Jewish holidays. Even if immigration formalities have not been completed, the teachers are entitled to these holidays.

Savings Fund: Consists of discounting the 7% of your salary while the school delivers a contribution of the same amount as you. This money will be invested. By the end of the year, you will receive the total contributions, plus the interest generated. (This benefit will start once you get your work permit card).

Food allowance vouchers: Corresponding to 10% of your salary, food allowance vouchers are deposited in an electronic card which Human Resources will provide you. They can be used in most supermarkets, convenience stores, and some restaurants. If you haven't received your work permit card, payment will be made in cash.
