About Colegio Alerce

Alerce was founded in 1992; its origins lie in the desire to create a basic education model for the state of Sonora. Thus, the Fernández Díaz-González family undertook the task of undertaking such an important project. At the beginning of the 1995-1996 school year, Alerce already had 150 students. Two years later, the number of classrooms was insufficient to meet the demand of 250 children. As a result, in August 1998, Alerce began the school year at its current location in Colonia Santa Fe. Thus, in 1999, Alerce graduated its first class from primary education. In the 2000-2001 school year, Alerce achieved an important goal in its short history: offering secondary education services, a level that, combined with early childhood, preschool, and primary education, allows us to complete the entire basic education cycle. In 2016, Alerce celebrated its integration into the Northwest K-12 Group, a group with more than 30 years of experience in elementary and high school education, as well as more than 8,000 students in Mexico. Thanks to this merger, Alerce will be able to offer high school-level programs by August 2017.
