Position Title: Learning Support Teacher

  • Must have specialized knowledge of critical factors, which are barriers to a student's learning.
  • Provides supervision for the safety and welfare of students within the school environment. Assumes responsibilities for assigned non-teaching duties e.g. cafeteria, playground, etc.
  • Knowledge of key childhood developmental periods.
  • Able to demonstrate and communication to staff multiple teaching modalities and strategies for students with varying learning styles.
  • Have or able to acquire knowledge of philosophy, methodology and instructional techniques that are consist with the policies of the school.
  • Provide specialized instruction both within an inclusive classroom model and through individual and small group work with students.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
  • Conduct assessment activities, interpret results and analyse data. Collect data from a variety of sources to encompass a whole child perspective for teachers and others to better understand student needs.
  • Compile, understand and gather curriculum based assessments materials. Able to assess students through formative and summative assessments processes.
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring activities of students and able to share information in a meaningful manner to colleagues and parents.
  • Prepare written reports for each appropriate subject area(s) of students served and provide to classroom teacher for grade reporting.
  • Attend and able to present relevant information on student needs at different meetings.
  • Conduct and participate in professional development activities which enhance student outcomes through research based practices
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Meet with parents to review student progress and attend other teacher/     parent      meetings as needed.
  • Conduct a minimum of one After School Activity for a term per school year.
  • Participates in activities, which are related to school functions and/or         the      education process that occur outside the regular school day.
  • Take responsibility for the safety, education and social development of each child in the class
  • Provide a role model for the development of children’s social behaviour and attitudes
  • Work in partnership with parents in providing a quality education experience for all the children.
  • Along with all members of the staff, undertake responsibilities as detailed in the school’s Health and Safety Manual.
  • Accept additional responsibilities in respect of organizing and supervising co-curricular activities.
  • Actively promote the mission, vision and values of the school.
  • Accept reasonable additional responsibilities as required by the Director.
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons according to PUE and regulatory safeguarding requirements including but not limited to the provisions of the PUE Child Protection Policy.
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education-related field or relevant subject matter area
  • More than 2 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with instructing ESL students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well developed organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Knowledge of Arabic language is highly desirable.
  • Computer literacy (word-processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
