Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Vice Principal to join our leadership team for the upcoming academic year. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving academic excellence, supporting curriculum development, strengthening teaching and learning practices, and ensuring high standards across the school.

The Academic Vice Principal will work closely with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Department, and teaching staff to support school improvement priorities, student achievement, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and monitor teaching and learning across assigned phases or departments.
  • Support curriculum planning, alignment, assessment, and academic review processes.
  • Monitor student progress data and support intervention planning.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Support staff performance evaluation, professional development, and instructional improvement.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of school policies, academic expectations, and KHDA requirements.
  • Work with leadership teams to improve student outcomes, teacher effectiveness, and overall school performance.
  • Support parent communication, student wellbeing, and academic concerns where required.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, school improvement plans, inspections, and accreditation processes.

Additional School Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in education or relevant subject area.
  • Recognized teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  • Previous leadership experience as Vice Principal, Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of American curriculum standards and school improvement practices.
  • Experience with data analysis, curriculum review, assessment, and teacher development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • UAE school experience and KHDA inspection experience are preferred.

Ignite School offers a KG1 to Grade 12, American education experience leading to a High School Diploma for Emirati and expatriate students.  The Ignite School curriculum aligns to the New York State Learning Standards, which includes the New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards (moving to NYS Next Generation Standards) as well as KHDA guidelines.  

Ignite School commenced classes in September 2018 and now has more than 1400 students enrolled for KG1 to Grade 9.  We anticipate opening Grades 10 and 11 in 2024/25 followed by Grade 12 in 2025/26 with a capacity for 2,000 Emirati and expatriate students.  High School will offer Advanced Placement tracks.  We have just achieved NEASC candidacy status and expect full accreditation in 2023/24.
