BASIS International School Hangzhou is seeking qualified candidates for an AP Computer Science Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year!

As a Computer Science teacher, you will have the opportunity to present the material in your own way, and in the way that will best enhance student understanding and excitement for the subject. Topics covered include design strategies and methodologies, organization of data, and common algorithms. A focus on problem solving using Java is a component of the course and is further enhanced by hands-on lab experiences throughout the course.
Primary Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare subject specific lessons in Computer Science.
- Provide subject instruction on a higher level than grade standard, in an interactive learning environment and delivering exceptional results for all students.
- Implement BASIS Curriculum by designing effective and creative lessons and assessments to ensure students’ education is at an internationally competitive level.
- Collaborate with other BASIS International teachers to form a community of smart, talented and interesting people who are passionate about education and readily willing to work in a professional, academic environment.
- Tutor students in content-specific knowledge and skills to heighten the trajectory of students’ academic and career success.
- Manage student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect and individuality in all students.

Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and ability to successfully pass a background clearance. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree, a major (24-30 credit hours) or advanced degree in the teaching subject fulfills the highly qualified requirement.
- In some cases, a Bachelor’s degree and documentation of passage of a state authorized subject test in the teaching area may fulfill the highly qualified requirement.
- Minimum two years teaching experience as a lead teacher required.
Preferred:
- Subject matter postgraduate work (Master’s or Ph.D.) is preferred.
- Together with a high level of educational attainment, a successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills in teaching ideas, texts, and concepts with precision and confidence.
- Must be open to new ideas in teaching.

A part of the six BASIS International Schools in China, the Hangzhou campus opened in 2018 with over 350 students in grades Kindergarten through 9th, and will expand each year until courses are offered through 12th grade. The campus is purpose-built, and is capable of housing 1,000 students. It is divided into two buildings--one for the early years and the other for grades 2nd-12th. The facilities include a gymnasium, computer lab, cafeteria, outdoor track and field, and a black box theater that is able to open into an outdoor amphitheater.
Hangzhou is regarded by many as China's most beautiful city. It boasts an incredibly history, lake, river, and also enjoys four seasons. The school is located in a revitalized area of downtown Hangzhou--juxtaposed between modern city development and beautiful areas of natural scenery and historical significance.
