Job Description

American STEM Prep, located in the Suji (Yongin) neighborhood of Yongin, South Korea, is seeking qualified and passionate full-time Elementary P.E. / Health Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year.

We are a growing, American-curriculum school committed to academic excellence, character development, and STEM innovation. The successful candidate will be a high-energy educator who has strong classroom management skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to adapt activities to ensure full inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons based on American curriculum frameworks (including Common Core where applicable)
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse physical abilities of elementary students
  • Design meaningful assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture
  • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and school leadership
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives
  • Support or lead extracurricular activities such as clubs, competitions, advisory, or tutoring programs

Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching elementary students
  • Strong content knowledge, curriculum design & assessment skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a professional learning community

Preferred Qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, physical education, health education, kinesiology or similar fields
  • Valid state teaching certification or eligibility for certification
  • Familiarity with American Common Core P.E./Health curriculum
  • International school experience
  • Possesses the 'magic touch' for engaging students who are hesitant about physical activity or lack confidence in their athletic abilities.
  • Focuses on building a safe, non-judgmental environment where 'trying' is valued more than 'winning.'
  • Has a toolkit of creative, inclusive games that allow every child—regardless of coordination level—to feel successful and essential to the group.
  • Seeks to build genuine relationships with students to understand their barriers to movement and help them overcome them.
