Job Description
Day-Star School, a distinguished K-12 bilingual institution, has been a cornerstone of quality education in our region since 1988. With over 30 years of commitment to excellence, we are proud to continue our tradition of providing exceptional bilingual education to our community.
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic High School English Language Arts Teacher to join our team for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. As a member of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students in grades 10, 11, and 12, nurturing their English language and writing skills and developing a deeper appreciation and understanding of literature.
The daily workload will consist of six 45-minute class periods, allowing opportunity for engaging with students and delivering high-quality instruction. In addition to teaching, you will have two dedicated planning periods, allowing time for curriculum development, assessment preparation, and collaboration with colleagues. The schedule also includes designated time for breakfast and lunch breaks. This balanced schedule ensures that educators can effectively deliver content, and support student learning.

Job Requirements
- Create weekly lesson plans
- Fill out grades into grading system on a weekly basis
- Attend all teacher meetings and PD activities
- Maintain daily attendance records for all classes and subjects
- Facilitate relationships and maintain communication with parents and administration
- Foster a safe and productive classroom environment for students
- Maintain order and discipline in the classroom and follow school and government guidelines
- Attention to detail when teaching English language skills
- Experience living or working abroad is preferable
- Experience teaching and supervising children in an education setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to adapt to circumstances and be flexible
- Ability to work independently.
- An interest in literature and a love of reading.

Day-Star School is a private K-12 bilingual school located in Juticalpa, in the eastern part of Honduras. The school was founded in 1988. It is owned and operated by Mark and Betty Skallman, North Americans, who have lived and worked in Honduras since 1980.
The school is nationally accredited with the Honduran Ministry of Education and internationally accredited by Cognia. All classes, except for Spanish grammar, civics, and some social studies, are taught in English. The teaching staff includes both International and Honduran teachers. The student body is Honduran, whose parents live and work in the community.
