Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

A positive school climate is characterized by quality teaching by instructors and effective learning by students. This requires a safe environment for all who work in and attend SPAS along with an emphasis on citizenship and adherence to rules applied equitably and fairly to all in the Saint Paul Scholars community. We believe that parents are essential partners in the educational process and must be properly involved and accountable for the achievement and behavior of their children.

Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking an organized and structured individual to fill an upcoming opening as a High School Social Studies Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.  The role begins on August 14th, 2023. The high school program is a new addition to Saint Paul Scholars, and we are looking for candidates who are not only attracted to starting on the ground floor of this program but also have a strong vision on how they could contribute to and build our program far up from its foundations. In addition to the preparations SPAS is making to ready the program, and new location, our contracted teachers will receive nearly two weeks of preparation and training time before the semester begins - time enough to familiarize our teachers with our systems, policies, selected textbooks, and expectations. The training period is mandatory and will begin on August 14th with the commencement of the contract. We're looking to build on our already talented and enthusiastic team of educators who look ahead to the program's future. We will be starting interviews as we receive candidates either virtually, on Zoom, with the School Principal, or, preferably, in person, and we will close positions as they are filled. Interviews on Zoom will be recorded and reviewed by our administrative team if they take place outside of school hours. Candidates who provide letters of recommendation from former or current employers will have the strongest consideration.
