Job Description – IB MYP Coordinator

Madison International School Mérida

Position Overview

Madison International School Mérida is seeking a dynamic and experienced IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator to lead and oversee the implementation of the MYP framework. The Coordinator will ensure that the program is delivered in alignment with IB standards and practices, fostering a culture of inquiry, international-mindedness, and academic excellence across grades 6–9.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the MYP curriculum in accordance with IB requirements.
  • Support teachers in developing units of inquiry, assessments, and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the curriculum across subject areas.
  • Organize and facilitate professional development sessions related to the MYP.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Madison International School Mérida and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
  • Coordinate internal and external evaluations, including preparation for IB authorization and re-accreditation visits.
  • Monitor student progress and support strategies that promote holistic development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff about the philosophy and practices of the MYP.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to integrate the MYP with other programs offered at the school.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably within an IB school.
  • Prior experience with the MYP framework and curriculum development.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish proficiency is an asset).

  • Immigration fees (we will make the arrangements and fees will be covered by MIS). We will ask you to cover the expenses for going to your nearest Mexican embassy and to have an apostille on your Diploma.
  • Health Insurance (only for the employee, not the dependants)
  • Housing according to the terms of the contract.
  • Holidays:
  • December: 2 weeks (approx. 10days)
  • Spring Break: 2 weeks
  • Summer: 2 weeks + 1 week on hold (according to the Ministry of Education calendar)
  • National Holidays
  • Additional comments:
  • Transportation costs from home to school and from school to home must be covered by the employee.
  • In case you want to send packages from your place of origin, please consult with HR beforehand. MIS is not responsible for the costs involved in these shipments.
