Job Description

Position Summary

SISU School of Ulaanbaatar is seeking a passionate and student-centered Primary Homeroom Teacher to deliver high-quality education through the Finnish National Curriculum. The successful candidate will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment while supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of children in Grades 4

The homeroom teacher serves as the primary caregiver, educator, and communicator for their class, working collaboratively with colleagues, specialists, and families to ensure every child thrives.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the Finnish National Curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary learning and real-world experiences into classroom teaching.

Student Wellbeing

  • Build a positive, respectful, and emotionally safe classroom community.
  • Support students' social-emotional learning through restorative and positive behaviour practices.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and collaborate with the Student Support Team.
  • Promote independence, responsibility, and lifelong learning habits.

Homeroom Leadership

  • Take overall responsibility for the wellbeing and development of the homeroom class.
  • Monitor attendance, student progress, and classroom routines.
  • Organize class meetings, celebrations, and community-building activities.
  • Prepare student reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.

Family Partnership

  • Maintain regular, professional communication with parents regarding student learning and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with families to support each child's development.
  • Document and communicate concerns in a timely and constructive manner.

Professional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with subject teachers, special education teachers, counselors, and school leadership.
  • Participate actively in professional learning communities and school improvement initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Primary Education or Elementary Education.
  • Valid teaching qualification or license.
  • Minimum 2 years of primary teaching experience.
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Finnish National Curriculum or inquiry-based education.
  • International school teaching experience.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners and inclusive education.
