Job Description
As the Head of Inclusion at MCIS, the individual will play a pivotal role in creating an environment that celebrates diversity, fosters inclusivity, and ensures equal opportunities for all students. This candidate will lead our efforts in providing exceptional support and guidance to students with diverse learning needs, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The SENCO/Head of Inclusion will work very closely with all necessary staff and help the school determine what accommodations if any, we can provide for students with particular physical disabilities or special learning needs. This individual also assists the schools by identifying resources to assist Students of Determination. The SENCO/Head of Inclusion is involved in the development of policies and procedures relating to Students of Determination.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive inclusion strategies, policies, and programs that align with the Alberta Education curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify students' individual needs and create personalized learning plans.
- Provide ongoing professional development and training to educators on inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture by raising awareness and fostering understanding of diverse abilities, backgrounds, and perspectives.
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and support services for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with external agencies, specialists, and professionals to provide additional resources and services to students as required.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion initiatives, regularly assessing student progress and adjusting strategies accordingly.
- Advocate for inclusive education practices within the school community and participate in relevant local and international conferences and workshops.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred).
- Specialization/Focus in Special Education, or similar
- Extensive experience in inclusive education, preferably in an Alberta education curriculum context.
- In-depth knowledge of special education practices, learning disabilities, and differentiating instruction.
- Familiarity with the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and assistive technologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and external agencies.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of UAE education regulations and guidelines related to inclusive education is an asset.
