Job Description

Student Supervisor — High School (Grades 9 to 12)
Ignite School, Al Warqa'a 3, Dubai, UAE

Reporting to: Dean of Students, High School

About the role

Ignite School is seeking a Student Supervisor for the High School to support the safety, conduct and wellbeing of students in Grades 9 to 12. This is an active, on-the-floor role. The successful candidate will spend the school day among students rather than at a desk, working alongside the Dean of Students, teachers and school life leaders to maintain a calm, orderly and purposeful environment across the High School.

Working with older students calls for a different approach to that used in the lower phases. The role suits someone who can hold clear expectations firmly while building the kind of respectful working relationships that adolescents respond to.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide active supervision of students during lessons where required, at lesson transitions, and in corridors, stairwells and common areas throughout the school day
  • Monitor student movement between classes and ensure punctual, orderly transitions, including follow-up on lateness and unauthorised absence from class
  • Support the consistent application of the school's behaviour expectations and Code of Conduct across Grades 9 to 12
  • Address student conduct concerns promptly and proportionately, escalating to the Dean of Students in line with school procedures
  • Supervise students during break times, arrival and dismissal, examinations and school events as assigned
  • Report safeguarding concerns immediately in line with the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, referrals and follow-up actions
  • Refer wellbeing, academic or pastoral concerns to the Dean of Students, Student Counselor or Guidance Counselor as appropriate
  • Work in coordination with teachers, Hallway Monitors and school life leaders to maintain clear, non-duplicated lines of responsibility

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma; a diploma or degree in education, psychology, social work or a related field is an advantage
  • Prior experience supervising adolescents in a school, youth or sports setting; secondary or high school experience preferred
  • Strong presence and the ability to manage the behaviour of older students calmly, consistently and without escalation
  • Clear communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage
  • Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations
  • Commitment to student safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Physically able to remain active and mobile throughout the school day

Safeguarding

Ignite School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including professional references, verification of qualifications, criminal record checks covering all countries of residence, and screening against the KHDA Deregistration List.
