Korea Poly School also known as POLY, specializes in educating students that have lived abroad while nurturing those students who intend to live abroad.

For returnee students, being a part of the POLY family is their only link to their life in North America. For non-returnee students, it is a glimpse of something outside their home country. Teachers at POLY are given the opportunity to partake in the English education of these gifted students as well as affect their perspectives of the world.

Korea POLY School Programs

POLY offers two distinct full immersion language programs to students in early childhood up to junior high school. The POLY Elementary program has two distinct purposes: to give children the support they need to maintain their fluency and exceptional English proficiency and to bring the benefits of a North American curriculum to students who have not yet experienced life outside Korea. The POLY junior high school program prepares students for the TOEFL test in order to gain acceptance into elite high schools and universities across the world.

The POLY Returnee Program teaches reading, phonics, writing, vocabulary, grammar, science, and social studies.

Gifted and Talented

The POLY Gifted & Talented Program caters to students that have proven through a difficult entrance exam that they have the ability to do well in the POLY intensive language program. Unlike the returnee students, these students have never studied abroad. Gifted and Talented students study reading, phonics, writing, grammar, science, and social studies. The aim of the Gifted and Talented Program is to bring the experience of studying abroad to the students so that they may explore and appreciate English both as a language and as an essential tool.

iBT TOEFL

The Educational Testing Institute (ETI) Program enables older students to get ready for the challenge of higher education by preparing them for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The test’s Internet-based nature requires a unique approach from instructors and students alike. the POLY iBT TOEFL instructors are provided with a laptop and large screen LCD monitor to aid their teaching. iBT requires teachers who understand English beyond the mechanics down to all the nuances of tone, infection, and slag which are acquired naturally through living in a culture.

Korea POLY School Teacher Training

Upon arriving in Korea, teachers spend one day in curriculum training, learning about all of the POLY programs and texts. This training will be followed by two days of observation at a campus where teachers can meet the teaching staff and put their training into practice. After a teacher arrives at their campus, they also go through an orientation period to become familiar with the characteristics and responsibilities at that specific location. Teachers will have ample opportunity to speak with the experienced teachers and get feedback on their teaching performance.
