PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To lead Northlands’ pedagogical strategy, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and overall strategic vision. To promote academic coherence across campuses, sections, and departments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Curriculum / Academic

1. Curriculum Development, Instructional Strategies and Assessment Policies

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of an innovative curriculum aligned with the school’s strategic goals and coherent across all sections.
  • Guide HODs (Heads of Department – Secondary) in the development and implementation of curriculum and action plans.
  • Collaborate with HODs and other staff members to ensure the curriculum is delivered consistently across classrooms.
  • Develop instructional strategies aligned with Northlands’ pedagogical objectives, including innovative approaches to assessment tools, classroom time management, learning spaces, and resource allocation.
  • Lead the development of systems to collect, analyse, and communicate student learning data, enabling teachers to implement data-informed instruction.

2. Leadership of International Programmes and Accreditation Processes

  • Ensure the implementation of International Programmes.
  • Lead international programme accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
  • Lead the analysis of international examination results to support continuous improvement processes.

3. Development of an Academic Professional System

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of School and HR to develop and implement an academic professional development system.
  • Keep staff informed about developments in education and promote departmental initiatives when appropriate.
  • Advise the Head of School and the Board on all academic matters.
  • Support Principals and Vice Principals in curriculum implementation and educational innovation.

ROLE CHALLENGES

  • Ensure curriculum implementation in an innovative way while balancing national and international regulations with the school’s educational proposal.
  • Ensure that staff members understand and embody the Northlands culture.
