Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-centered AP Chemistry Teacher to join our High School faculty. The ideal candidate has a strong background in chemistry, proven experience teaching advanced-level courses, and the ability to inspire a deep understanding of scientific concepts through engaging, hands-on learning.

This teacher will be responsible for delivering a rigorous AP Chemistry curriculum aligned with College Board standards, preparing students for success on the AP exam, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and academically challenging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach AP Chemistry and additional high school chemistry courses as assigned
  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging lessons aligned with the AP Chemistry framework
  • Prepare students thoroughly for the AP Chemistry exam
  • Design and supervise laboratory activities that emphasize safety and scientific inquiry
  • Assess student learning using varied, standards-based evaluation methods
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families
  • Support students through office hours, tutoring, and academic coaching
  • Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum alignment and best practices
  • Participate in school-wide professional development and faculty meetings
  • Contribute positively to the school culture and uphold its mission and values

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching high school chemistry, including AP or IB level
  • Strong understanding of College Board’s AP Chemistry curriculum
  • Demonstrated success in preparing students for high-stakes assessments
  • Experience managing a high school laboratory environment safely and effectively
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and differentiated instruction
  • Passion for inspiring young scientists and fostering curiosity

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience teaching in a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based learning
  • Ability to integrate technology and digital tools into instruction
