ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Milan, part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Biology Teacher to join the Secondary School on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

The successful candidate will teach Biology within the IB framework, contributing to a rigorous, inquiry-led and student-centred learning environment. This role requires a reflective practitioner who can ensure continuity of learning, maintain high academic standards, and integrate seamlessly into a collaborative department during the period of cover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Biology within the IB curriculum (MYP and/or Diploma Programme as required)
• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB philosophy and assessment criteria
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments
• Monitor and track student progress, providing clear and timely feedback
• Maintain continuity of curriculum planning and departmental standards
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Contribute to collaborative planning and departmental meetings
• Uphold high standards of behaviour, safety and laboratory practice
• Engage positively with parents and the wider school community
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

• A degree in Biology or a closely related scientific field
• A recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching Biology at secondary level
• Strong subject knowledge and confidence in delivering practical science
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
• Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Desirable

• Experience teaching IB MYP and/or IB Diploma Biology
• Experience in an international school setting
• Familiarity with IB assessment standards and moderation processes
