Taaleem is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, and passionate Dean of Students to join our Dubai Schools Al Barsha for an August 2026 Start. 

Job Purpose:

The Dean of Students supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students within a U.S. curriculum school. This leader plays a key role in cultivating a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment aligned with the school’s mission, values, and academic standards. The role includes oversight of student conduct, attendance, discipline procedures, pastoral care, and coordination with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure success for all learners.

Key Relationship (Internal & External):

School Governance Board (SGB), Dubai Schools Parent Association (DSPA) Central Office Team, School Head of Operations, Heads of Schools, Senior Leadership Team, Middle Leaders, Admissions Manager, School Staff, Parents and Students, External Agencies and Service Providers, Local Authorities, and Local Regulators.

Key Accountabilities:

Student Culture & Behavior Management

  • Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of the school-wide Positive Behavior Support framework.
  • Oversee student discipline, ensuring consistent, fair, and restorative approaches.
  • Conduct investigations of student incidents and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Promote and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture.
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and families to support students with behavioral or social-emotional challenges.


Attendance, Safety & Supervision

  • Monitor daily student attendance and punctuality; lead interventions for chronic absenteeism.
  • Supervise student arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, and common areas to ensure safety.
  • Support the school’s crisis management and emergency response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding standards, and local regulations.


Student Support & Well-being

  • Coordinate programs that promote student well-being, character development, and leadership.
  • Work closely with the counseling department on referrals, behavior plans, and student interventions.
  • Engage students through proactive outreach, mentorship, and relationship-building.


Academic Support & School Operations

  • Collaborate with the Principal and Academic Team on academic monitoring and interventions.
  • Participate in student academic reviews, parent meetings, and IEP/Student Support Planning as needed.
  • Support teachers with classroom management strategies and student engagement techniques.
  • Assist in managing daily school operations including scheduling, supervision plans, and logistics.


Parent & Community Engagement

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for student behavior and conduct matters.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and interventions.
  • Facilitate parent workshops and community-building initiatives when needed.


Leadership & Professional Development

  • Support implementation of the school’s strategic goals and improvement plans.
  • Mentor teachers (particularly new staff) on behavior management and school culture.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to staff training sessions.

Education

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a U.S. curriculum school.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience (Dean, coordinator, assistant principal, team leader) preferred.
  • Experience with:
    • U.S. standards-based instruction (e.g., CCSS, AERO, NGSS)
    • Student behavior systems (PBIS, restorative practices)
    • Multicultural school environments


Competencies

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective behavior management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
