Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To facilitate the teaching and learning process, ensuring a strong focus on student learning outcomes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Management / Administration

  • Collaborate with the coordination of the IGCSE programme.
  • Lead the development of a Strategic Plan for the Secondary School aligned with the School Strategic Plan and Mission.
  • Lead the development of the Secondary School five-year improvement plan and annual plan aligned with the strategic goals.
  • Oversee the Secondary Professional Development Plan in line with the Secondary School Improvement Plan.

Leadership / Team Management

  • Guide and maintain effective teams so curriculum leaders can develop cooperative and constructive working relationships that promote high-quality teaching and learning practices.
  • Support curriculum leaders in initiating, planning, and implementing programmes in response to emerging educational needs and priorities.
  • Critically evaluate and reflect on professional practices and support staff in developing their skills through participation in professional development programmes.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations.
  • Monitor and evaluate Secondary School performance.
  • Demonstrate and model the School Values.
  • Ensure, together with Curriculum Leaders, that teaching practices align with the school’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Oversee staff performance in the Secondary School, including teacher appraisal and performance development processes.
  • Participate in and supervise recruitment and induction processes for new Secondary School staff.

Curriculum / Academic

Promote and develop academic excellence within the Secondary School.

Conduct classroom observations to ensure the quality of the teaching and learning process.

Oversee the implementation of the Secondary School curriculum.

Ensure that assessment recording and reporting procedures are of high quality.

Demonstrate teaching and learning practices that generate outstanding student achievement.

Inspire excellence in professional practice.

Stay up to date with current trends in curriculum design and development.

Promote the use of data and information to improve effective teaching practices.

Ensure the implementation of the Inclusion Policy.

Supervise and participate in the implementation of the Outdoor Education Programme.

Oversee student wellbeing, discipline, and academic honesty together with the PSE team.

Support the development of School Values, IB learner profile attributes, and Approaches to Learning skills to help students achieve realistic learning and career goals.

Supervise support provided to students with special educational needs alongside the LSU team.

Oversee the admissions process for new students.

Supervise the selection process of student leadership teams (Prefects, Captains, Ambassadors, and Student Council) and foster leadership skills development.


Families

Meet with families regarding academic, disciplinary, and social matters.

Conduct admissions interviews with prospective families.

Support teachers during meetings with families when require
