Job Description
Reports to:
Local Head of School
Vice Principals
Headmaster
Roles and Responsibilities:
A Primary Head of School is expected to:
- Serve as a liaison between the Academy’s senior management and the HOS’s departmental staff. (Including Deputy Heads and Teachers)
- Line management of primary school staff to ensure the highest quality of programs, curriculum, and assessment are in place and being followed.
- Facilitating weekly teaching staff meetings, including setting agendas and keeping minutes.
- Be an open, active, and visible presence in classrooms and the playground during sporting and enrichment programs, at special school events, etc.
- Foster a caring and encouraging environment of trust and integrity
- Ensure the smooth and effective operation of the school
- Coordinate with and support other departments on school-wide matters

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree from an accredited university
- Master of Education or leadership
- Teaching license: QTS, national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
- Three years of experience as head of primary school or five years of experience as year head
- Teaching experiences in a bilingual school, international school, or government/state school
- Familiar with American common core & next generation science curriculum

Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy (KWA), is a K-12 international school accredited by Cognia and is a WASC candidate school. Located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing, the KWA campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.
Curriculum at KWA
Our school is organized into Primary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and high school, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s nine-year compulsory education program, KWA’s curriculum is built on strengths from both Chinese and Western education.
For Primary and Middle School, we follow a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards and the Chinese National Curriculum.
For High School, we follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and offer UK IGCSE and A-Level UK programs.
