BASIS International School Bangkok is seeking qualified candidates for a Head of Aquatics for the upcoming school year!
About the Role
The Head of Aquatics plays a key role in creating and managing a comprehensive swim program for the whole school, including the swim team, extra-curricular activities (ECA’s), and swim curriculum. The primary outcomes include safe practice in all activities, social and physical development of children, emotional and mental wellbeing of children in and around the swimming pool.
Our swimming program is growing and developing competitive program, with strong participation across all grades. With outstanding facilities to support our students and coaches’ success, we are well prepared for continued growth and competition achievements.
This position reports directly to the Athletics Director. There are five direct reports underneath the Head of Aquatics (two lifeguards, two coaches, and one early years swim instructor).

Main Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the swim program for the whole school including swim team, ECAs, and swim curriculum
- Supervise and manage lifeguards and aquatics instructors
- Support the organization with the development of our Sports Program.
- Supporting the P.E Department to develop the concept of excellence in all aspects of its operations
- The planning and delivery of excellent lessons focused on aquatics and swimming
- Supporting the development of the P.E curriculum in collaboration with the school’s management and other members of the P.E. Department to ensure development, evaluation and revision of the academic curriculum, ensuring continual improvement
- Supporting colleagues with the specialist skills of the job holder
- Monitoring the performance of students and ensuring that assessment and reporting procedures are followed in accordance with school policy
- Participating in the formulation of school sports teams, duly coaching and managing as directed
- Supporting the ethos of healthy living throughout the school’s population
- Be mindful of the equipment used in school, checking to ensure it is fit for purpose and the spaces used for Aquatics and P.E. are safe
- Required to work weekends as needed (Saturdays and some Sundays)

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in your subject area (Elementary and Early Education degrees are also highly valued for Pre-K through Grade 5).
- Experience: At least two years as the lead teacher in a classroom, a requirement for obtaining a working visa.
