Job Description

Job Title: Head of English & EAL
Location: Rabat
Start Date: August 2026
Handover Period: Availability for a few days in June 2026

Overview
An established British institution is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of English & EAL to lead its English language provision. This role combines academic leadership, curriculum oversight, and team management, with a strong focus on delivering the British curriculum, including IGCSE and A Levels, while supporting students for whom English is an additional language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the English & EAL departments, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Oversee the delivery of the British curriculum (up to IGCSE and A Levels) in English
  • Maintain a teaching commitment in English, including at IGCSE and/or A Level
  • Develop and implement an effective EAL strategy to support language acquisition across all key stages
  • Monitor student progress and drive strong outcomes in external examinations (IGCSE & A Levels)
  • Recruit, mentor, and appraise teaching staff
  • Develop schemes of work, assessments, and enrichment opportunities aligned with British standards
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on whole-school academic strategy
  • Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community


Profile

  • Proven leadership experience in English and/or EAL within a British curriculum setting
  • Strong knowledge of IGCSE and A Level English programmes
  • Demonstrated success in supporting EAL learners in an international school environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Fluent in English (native or near-native level); French is a plus
  • Relevant teaching qualification and leadership experience required


Additional Information

  • A structured handover period will take place in June ensure a smooth transition
  • Competitive package, dependent on experience
