BASIS International Humanities Teachers are able to focus their teaching on teaching phonics, reading, and humanities. They work collaboratively with Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) to cultivate a joyful learning culture where hard work is celebrated and where intellectual pursuits result in extraordinary student outcomes. At the elementary level, LETs help you focus on instruction while they ensure individual student understanding according to student needs. As an Elementary Teacher, it is primarily your responsibility to develop engaging, content-rich subject specific lesson plans and to teach creative thinking and problem solving.
Humanities teachers establish a solid foundation of language and social science skills and knowledge. Language Arts topics covered include beginnings of reading and writing, reading comprehension, writing process, and much more. Some humanities topics covered include world history, American history, and beginnings of geographic awareness. These broad and varied areas of study give elementary teachers the ability to approach the material in new and creative ways, while providing students with a broad knowledge base to build upon.

About BASIS International School Guangzhou
The second BASIS International School in China, BASIS International School Guangzhou, opened in August 2017. Almost 400 students in grades Kindergarten - Grade 9 attended the first year, and the school has grown to its capacity of approximately 1,200 students in grades Pre-K - 12. It is also the first BASIS International School to offer a weekday boarding program. About BASIS Bilingual School Guangzhou
Opening in the fall of 2026, BASIS Bilingual School Guangzhou will be the second BASIS school in the city and the first bilingual campus. The school will offer kindergarten, primary, middle, and high school programs for students with mainland Chinese residency, as well as for those with partly foreign passports or from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Once complete, the campus will have the capacity to serve 1,900 students.
BASIS Bilingual School Guangzhou is located on the north side of Xin’gang East Road in Pazhou, Haizhu District, the core area of Guangzhou’s Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone. This prime location positions the school within one of the city’s most forward-looking and dynamic districts.
The campus covers 24,000 square meters, with a total construction area of approximately 74,000 square meters and a planned investment of 1.2 billion RMB. The school is equipped with a lecture hall, library, black box theater, swimming pool, observatory, cafeteria, gymnasiums, laboratories, and multifunctional classrooms for arts, music, and innovation, along with other high-standard teaching facilities that reflect the quality and ambition of BASIS International & Bilingual Schools.

BASIS International School Guangzhou is set in the Science City suburb outside of Guangzhou with lots of green spaces, lush rolling hills, and numerous paths to walk, jog, or cycle. Guangzhou is a diverse city with several foreign consulates (including a U.S. Consulate), in the city center (about a 45 minute car ride away from the school).
